We auditioned for Opportunity Knocks at the Ritz in Manchester when I was at the grand old age of 15.We played one of the first songs I'd ever completed called 'Miss Delightful'.
On the panel of judges were the legendary Hughie Green, big time producer Royston Mayou and a lady who was reading the daily paper.
I stopped the band playing and asked her "Are you listening to us or reading that newspaper?"  She closed the paper and we finished the song, packed our gear up and went home.

Opportunity wasn't knocking that day!!!
